Practice- Prayer during morning

Goal – The practice aims at creating holy and educational atmosphere in the learner.

Context – It is mandatory to start the college with a ‘National Anthem ‘. But along with it the prayer (Sarswati Vandana) is also held everyday morning at 10/ a.m It creates an inspiration, makes the learner happy and free from worries.

Practice – The Prayer and a National Anthem are sung every morning at 10.00 a.m. The students themselves sing both the Prayer and National Anthem. Immediately after it, the lectures follow. It creates an energy amongst the students and teachers as well. Evidence of success – It is evident that the college starts with a prayer and National Anthem which sets the momentum for the further proceedings. The students are very happy to follow the schedule of prayer and National Anthem. A spirit of nationalism and hunger for learning amongst the students are enkindled 

Problems encountered & Resources required– At first, the students showed reluctance for prayer because for them senior college life is a life where there is no necessity of a thing like prayer except National Anthem. But after proper counselling, they got ready for the same. The sound system is provided by the college.

Dress code
Goal – The practice aims at imbibing a descent behaviour and discipline amongst the students.

The context – The need of dress code was felt to avoid sexual/physical abuse and harassment of the students especially girls. It helps the college to maintain the discipline in the college. Most of the cases at higher education level which create unhealthy atmosphere in the college are due to undisciplined and indecent dress codes. In the name of fashion and liberty, the young generation can take undue advantage in the campus. Hence this practice assumes great importance. 

The practice – The dress codes introduced vary from courses to courses. For the student the use of T-shirts is prohibited. They can wear any formal dress. For the student of a dress code for Girls and Boys differ in colours. They are not allowed to use T-shirts in the campus. Evidence of success – All the students are using their dress codes and they express the change they experience in their personalities.

Problems encountered & Rsesources required – At the beginning students were unwilling to follow the dress codes. But after able counselling, they got ready and followed the instructions strictly. Students were advised on the purchase of clothes and trousers. Accordingly they contacted the shops and purchased the same.

Students participation in Decision-making

Goal – The College organises various activities for which student’s participation is an important aspect. To make students more active and enthusiastic in education is a prime aim of the activity.

Context – Now a days, it is essential to prepare students emotionally and psychologically sound. An opportunity need to be provided to the students to exhibit their talent and decision- making power. This makes them strong human beings. This leads to achieve our goal i.e. all around development of the student.

Practice
– As per the Maharashtra University Act 1994, each and every college must form students council in the college. At the beginning of the academic year, Students’ Council is formed in which meritorious students, representatives of the departments have been appointed. Members from teachers are also nominated by the Principal. This council makes suggestion for the programmes to be organised in the college. Students representatives get more importance in the process there by involving them in colleges decision-making process. Almost all the programmes in the college are anchored by the students. Various programmes of various Association are anchored by the students only. Their hidden talent is exposed. They get a knowledge related to organisation of programmes which proves very helpful in their future life.

Problems encountered & Resources required– At first it became very difficult to recognise students who can lead positively. But continuous interaction and discussion, announcements in the class help to recognise students’ qualities. Time to time motivation and assigning responsibilities help tremendously to sort out the problems. Monetary help from the college helps a lot to organise the programs effectively. Student-centric approach is well-exhibited in the practice.


Evidence of success – All activities of the college are well planned and supported by the students. A healthy relationship between the students and staff is formed. Students become more responsible and their behaviour is immensely improved. Positive change is shown in them and they voluntarily participate in all the activities of the college. 

2. Formation of various committees for the smooth functioning of the college and college activities

Goal: Every year various committees have been constituted by the principal to achieve: Excellence and harmony in every activity of the college and to seek healthy Co-ordination and co-operation amongst the staff.


Context:
As higher education is a tool to improve students academically, emotionally and psychologically, the college organizes various programs; it also provides many facilities to the students. Formation of various committees ensures students various responsibilities of the college towards them.
Practice: The principal at the beginning of the college forms committees of teachers and nonteaching staff. The committees look after their responsibilities throughout the year. These  committees include Admission committee, Discipline committee, Examination committee. Admission committee includes teachers and non-teaching staff also. The committee looks after matters related to the Admission process. Discipline committee looks after maintaining  discipline in the college campus; Examination committee conducts F.Y. and S.Y. exams and declares their results. Cultural committee arranges cultural programs in the college and also sends students for the University Youth Festival for various competitions. Thus, such
committees help immensely to channelize all the activities in the college positively. For organising every programme in the college committees have been constituted which include the committees like stage committee, sitting arrangement committee, refreshment committee etc.

Problem and Resources: At initial level, the principal sometimes faces the problem of unwillingly to do work in a committee by the staff member. But interaction between them leads to successful formation of committees. Resources such as separate rooms, furniture, computer, clerical staff has been provided.

Evidence of Success: It is evident that the college has got a tremendous success in administering all the activities and works smoothly due to the formation of different committees. These committees look after respective works and a healthy interactive sprit isbuilt amongst the staff.

1. Health and Hygiene

Objectives of the Practice:
To enhance health awareness and skill building among students through healthyenvironment. To create awareness about the health status of the staff and students in the campus. To provide counselling for the various health problems of the respondent by doctor. 

The Context – In the present age, there has been a threat to the physical and mental health of people due to different life styles of people. We have felt it necessary to empower students by holding  programmes of health and hygiene awareness. The college has MOU with local Dr. Pankaj
Patil which look after it.

The Practice – There is a need to train them to take at most care of their health and hygiene. The health center health camp for the students of the college. They are also learning lessons of cleanliness during various programmes held by the college. The health care center organized the physical check-up programmes for all students every year.

Additional resources can strengthen the activity. Additional staffs and students committee is needed for the smooth and intensive activities.

2. Semester-wise Teaching Plan

Objectives of the Practice – Each staff member prepares Semester-wise teaching plan. This ensures entire syllabus completion within due time. It brings uniformity in teaching though there are different teachers to different divisions. HODs take care to follow the plan strictly

The Context – There is a need to seek a uniformity in the teaching and completion of syllabus. There is one division of F.Y.B.Ed and S.Y.B. .Ed and hence planning of teaching is essential for effective teaching to the students. 

The Practice – HODs and colleagues at the beginning of the year i.e. first week of June or after opening of the college, decide the teaching plan for the Semester. It
enables teachers to complete the given syllabus in time and allotting lectures also for  interaction, discussion after Diwali vacation HODs and colleagues prepare plan for  the remaining Semester. This helps teachers to complete syllabus, conducting tests, arranging interaction on exam performance. Follow-up of the prepared plan helps a lot even though there are various activities arranged during and after the lecture schedule.

Evidence of Success – As teaching-learning gains as immense importance in execution of syllabus. The aims and objectives of syllabus can be achieved only through proper  and effective, continuous teaching. Time to time and written feedback from the students make us realise the success of the practice. 100% syllabus is taught in the  class. Revisions lectures, guidance lectures from outside professors also get a place in  the plan. This helps students to interact with other college professors. The result of  the exams also shows the success of the practice. 

Problems encountered and resource required –Teachers at first showed negligence to prepare Teaching plans but continuous interaction between the Principal and teachers came to fruition and this best practice is continuously followed every year. All teacher decided to prepare the plan semester wise. The college provides Teaching plan format and required stationary.

Goal – The practice aims at creating holy and educational atmosphere in the learner.

Context – Morning assembly is organized on the daily basis in the Assembly hall of the college where students recite prayers, discuss current news, thoughts, everyday morning at 10/ a.m it creates an inspiration, makes the learner happy and free from worries.

Practice – The institution tries its best to inculcate the moral and spiritual values among the student teachers through morning assembly.
